One of the Voids at the National September 11 Memorial

I remember how I was happily playing computer games when my friend called me out to see something on television. I immediately recognized that World Trade Center Twin Towers and it was smoking. I was transfixed at the sight and it seemed to be surreal and something horrible like this happened. After a while, the both towers collapsed and I was still doubting what I was seeing. It seemed like something that came out of a Hollywood movie. Tragically, this was all too real. I never really got back to that computer game. Fast forward 14 years, I was here at ground zero and a lot has already changed.

Practically all of the debris has already been cleared. The twin towers were never rebuilt and since they can never be replaced. In its place, were voids where the former twin towers stood. There was water coming out of the sides of the voids. The scenery was eerie and perhaps that was the intention. This is the National September 11 Memorial. The voids were black and on it were carved the names of those that perished in tragedy. I stood there transfixed at the sight and thinking how such senseless violence happened here as well as how the events here changed history. I only visited one pool, somehow, one of them was enough to put a damper on our tour of New York City.
