Sculptures in the Vatican Museum

I don’t even know where to start look as the Vatican Museum seems to be filled numerous pieces of art. Most of them I don’t recognize though, though probably an art student would be able to do a better job than I can identifying them. I was just glad that the Vatican Museum doesn’t seem to be as massive as the Louvre Museum. I know I paid very good money for this but there is only so much you can take in one go. After a while, you start getting numb no matter how beautiful it is.

It is not only paintings that are on display here at the Vatican Museum. There are also sculptures, some of them quite famous. One of the most famous one is probably Laocoön and His Sons, which features the named party being attacked by serpents. This is the statue which started the Vatican collection, unfortunately for me, I had no idea the statue was there at the Vatican, probably because I didn’t get to do enough research on the place that I was only aware of one single work of art that is in the Vatican Museum. Along the way, we were able to see other sculptures, one of which I recognized, it as Rodin’s The Thinker. I was quite surprised to see The Thinker here but it turned out to be one of several casts found in the world. I didn’t even know they did that.
