Train to Montserrat

Despite the train to Montserrat being seemingly empty, we still went in and sat inside. After all, the train ride would be almost an hour and I won’t want to be standing in the train for more than an hour. We managed to get a group of four chairs, though the chairs facing front were quickly taken by my motion sickness prone friends. As the departure time approached, the train slowly filled up and we realized that there are a lot of visitors to Montserrat or perhaps towns along the way. The train here isn’t one of those high speed trains which I managed to take in Madrid or on the way here to Barcelona. I don’t think there is any need for that since the travel time is only one hour.

Approaching Montserrat

We passed by several towns on the way to Montserrat. There were people getting on an off, so this proves that this train isn’t just for the tourists. As we were approaching Montserrat and mountain range was looming and it looked very familiar. I believe I saw the mountain range on my approach to Barcelona from the train. The mountains looked very distinctive and surely would have counted as a “holy” mountain in China where I have visited several of these similar looking mountains. I was amused that Spain also has these “holy” mountain looking mountains. You would know to get off as the stop to Montserrat is at the foot of these mountains.
