Side Streets of Qianmen Street at Night

I was having a grand time admiring the night lights of Qianmen Pedestrian Street and I was wondering what else is there. I walked all the way to the end of the street but there wasn’t anything there. Curiously, Qianmen Street is actually much longer than what it appears to be. From Google Maps, you can see that it really extends through several city blocks until it hits some expressway. I didn’t bother walking all the way that as it would probably take me the whole night to do that. I believe there is another gate there which marks yet another entrance to the palace grounds. I’m not sure how authentic that was but it seems that that portion of the street goes together with the layout of the palace.

I remember how the climb to the top of Mount Tai in Shandong province starts way back in the city, that is the traditional way of climbing up, though these days there are less torturous ways of climbing the sacred mountain. Anyway, not wanting to tire myself I head back to the start of Qianmen Street and noticed that there were small streets on both sides of the street. There was even less people here but there were still shops and restaurants here in the area. None of them really enticed me to eat and I was really getting hungry I really wonder is there something I would be able to afford to eat here?
