Desolate Trail in the Siberian Tiger Park 东北虎林园

I was looking forward to exploring the Siberian Tiger Park, just entering the gated area of the park was giving me the shivers. It was as if it was a very dangerous place to be in, which is certainly the case as it would not be wise to stick your hand outside the windows. Well, you won’t be able to do that either since the windows are shut and they are grilled. This time, it is the humans that are inside the cage. The bus drove us through a couple of gates to bring us to the actual place where the tigers stay. It won’t be easy to get out of the reserve what with so many gates to get through.

Tigers Finally!

Tigers Finally!

My initial impression of the Siberian Tiger Park was that it was underwhelming. There was just dried grass and a dirt path. Is this what an African savanna looks like? Then again, the Siberian Tiger doesn’t not live in the African savanna but rather in the forests of Northern China and of course Siberia. The Siberian Tiger is critically endangered and places like this will help them breed and hopefully they will be released back into the wild soon. The trouble is, their habitats are being encroached by man and it is doubtful that they will be able to go back into the wild. Additionally, living in a reserve may not be excellent training for them to live independently.
