There was still a bit of time before I leave for the airport, I decided to take a little stroll along the shores of the West Lake. It was still early morning and already the shores are alive with activities. Mostly people jogging and just taking a morning stroll along the historic lake. My position wasn’t that great since the sun was directly in front of me and there was nowhere to hide. The lake itself already had a boatload of tourists happily cruising its placid waters.

This brings me to one of the things I like about Chinese cities. It is very easy to find relaxing places like this here. Even massive cities like Beijing or Shanghai can be pretty relaxing compared to Hong Kong or Singapore. The West Lake area is probably one of the best places to be doing this. No wonder it has been famous all these centuries. It is too bad it is not that easy to find this else where because of lack of land or lack of planning, but these things really make a world of difference in terms of livability.
