It was still early in the morning and most of Shanghai is still waking up. I found myself wandering down the normally busy street of Nanjing Road, to my pleasant surprise, there are no signs of the masses of shoppers along this popular shopping street. In fact most of the people I see here at probably just passing through on their way to the nearby subway station. The shopping centers along this street are still closed and although a handful of snack shops were open for the breakfast crowd.

It does feel like a luxury to be walking down this road without anyone bothering you. In fact, there were some old folks doing their morning exercises here, some even have swords! For safety reasons, I didn’t take a photo of that man. The tourist train which takes visitors around Nanjing Road is also parked until it will be called for duty later in the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see the train sporting a Philippines tourism advertisement. It seems to be quite well made and I was honestly impressed. Shanghai does have direct connections to Manila and Cebu which makes it a perfect place to market the country.
