The Bund is lined with an assortment of colonial era buildings, but probably the most impressive one will have to be the HSBC Building. This is the wide one with the single large dome on top. For years it was the headquarters of the bank until it was forced to scale down operations, where another bank, the Pudong Development Bank moved in. The building has a neo-classical architecture and is colored much like the other buildings in the Bund.

Although the HSBC Building is one of the most significant ones along the Bund, there didn’t seem to be too many people around it. Maybe it was still too early in the morning. I didn’t get a chance to go in the building as it might been awkard for a camera toting tourist to just walk in an office building. At night the HSBC Building is one of the shining jewels of the Bund. I’m just glad that the building is still intact after wars and revolutions.
