A Look at the South Gate to Heaven 南天门

As far as mountains go, Mount Tai isn’t really a very tall mountain, considering its religious significance, this is a little surprising. Mount Tai only stands at around 1800 meters, the climb from the foot of the mountain to the top can be completed in 4-6 hours depending on your fitness. However, it is still a mountain with a great view. From the ledge on can look below the mountain. The stairs to the South Gate to Heaven is clearly visible from here and you can easily see all the way to the bottom.

The view from the top wasn’t as crystal clear as it I wanted it to be but it will have to do. The weather was worse the previous day and I was lucky enough to have something like this. My friend would recall that the South Gate of Heaven would be visible from Tai’an City itself back then, but this is getting more and more difficult with pollution. I wasn’t able to see the South Gate to Heaven from below but it was already clearly visible from the midpoint.
