It takes very careful planning to build an impressive palace. Back in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the rules of symmetry were already being practiced in design of these types of places. As a result, it is not surprising to see different structures ending up looking like each other. You put something one the left, there should be an identical one on the right. Same goes for imperial park design.

The Thousand Year Pavillion is the splitting image of the Pavillion of Ten Thousand Spring Seasons 万春亭. The Thousand Year Pavillion, despite its name is not a thousand years old yet. It used to hold Buddhist images in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The pavillion is located in the west which symbolizes autumn. The Chinese name of the pavillion is actually “Thousand Autumn Pavillion”.
