That is probably one of the strangest titles that has ever graced this blog. However, it is actually true. When I was in Wangfujing 王府井 and I was looking for an affordable place to eat, I asked around and I was recommended a place known for these Sichuan style snacks. The name of the place was Jue Wei 绝味, acoording to the lady I asked, it seems to be a very popular chain. I never really found that place in Wangfujing and I was a bit disappointed. However, a few days later when I was walking down the street where my hostel was, I was surprised to see that there was one near the hostel.

I was curious as to what stuff they offer and decided to take one of their specialties, duck neck. I’ve had duck neck in Singapore and despite the initial revulsion to eating the thing, I realized that it was actually not too bad. There is not a lot of meat on the neck as you may know but it does cause one to keep sucking on the neck just in case some meat happens to fall off. I can’t remember how much I ordered, I think it was half a kilo and it turned out to be a lot. They were already sliced up so you just pop one into you mouth and start extracting the meat from there. It can come in several levels of spiciness so you need to be careful with that. As for the duck neck, it took me the whole half of the day to finish it.
