Taking Photos at the Temple of Heaven 天坛

Understandably, the main entrance of the Temple of Heaven is mobbed by people. However, this also gives me an opportunity to try to take photos with less people in it. The rest of the sides of the temple are practically free of the tourist mobs that regularly lay siege to this place. I was pleasantly surprised to see this. Apparently, everyone was only interested in taking front face photos of the temple and most never bother staying around for the rest of the temple.

While it is true that the rest of the temple look much like the front. This also means that it doesn’t really mater much which side of the temple you take from. The most glaring detail is the big name plate on top which says New Year Hall 祈年殿. Most of the tourists would just take a peek through the main door an be on their way. But I didn’t pay CNY 60 just to do that. I need to make the most of my time here since it is a UNESCO world heritage site.
