After cutting through the Forest Trail, I came to a clearing which was a welcome change from all that thick forest I just went through. I was initially surprised to see a hint of modernity in this area. Strangely enough there was a fountain. I wasn’t expecting something like that here since the MacRitchie Nature Park was supposed to be a nature park as the name implies. Walking down further, I realized what this place was.

It was not difficult to figure the place out, what with the nicely mowed grass and the “hills” in this area. It is the Singapore Island Country Club. I didn’t know that the country club was here. I should have paid more attention to the map. The Singapore Island Country Club is naturally an exclusive club whose membership is coveted by a lot of Singaporeans. However, only a few wealthy individuals can afford to join. So exclusive it is that a shelter very near the hiking trail was marked as off limits since it is only for use of the country club’s member. I hardly saw anyone playing at that time and it makes me wonder just how often does this shelter actually get used?
