Exploring Tianmenshan 天门山

Tourists Admiring the View

A wonderful way of exploring Tianmenshan is on foot. From the cable car station there is a path that leads directly to the walking trail. This is not a rough it out kind of walking trail. Since the path is cemented and is pretty much flat. The path does wind through some spectacular scenery as you can see here.

The path is pretty much a platform built along the mountain support by nothing more than a few pillars at a time. To look down from the pathway is a sure way to get vertigo. However, the view is nothing short of stupendous. The only turn off for me is that there were a lot of flag-toting tourists coming our way, and we photographers had to make sure we stay a step ahead of them.

Need to Stay Ahead of Them

Need to Stay Ahead of Them

I have come to realize that joining these flag-toting tour groups is not nice at all. The leader of the group will always hurry the group along to the next stop. So much that there would be no time for the group members to take photos or even appreciate the wonderful scenery around them. Since we were trying to avoind the tour group we had to be even faster than them. I didn’t realize how stressful it could be. They really moved that fast and the members of these tour groups weren’t that young either. The group leader just kept pushing and pushing. I don’t think joining the tour group is worth that.

After a while we came to a fork and didn’t know where to go, we actually needed them to point out the way and we immediately overtook them and eventually lost them. Only then could we finally catch our breath.
