El Jadida seems to be one of those lesser visited places in Morocco. It has a UNESCO World Heritage site but somehow it is not part of the main tourist trail. When I got off the train station, there were only locals who got off, and me. There were taxi cabs waiting outside the train station and there doesn’t seem to be any other way to the city other than walking. I don’t want to make the mistake to walking far to get there so I just took a cab. What I like about this place is that since it is not part of the main tourist trail, taxis tend to be nicer and not overcharge you. It was a fair distance to El Jadida but I didn’t have to haggle for the taxi fare.

I left my stuff with my accommodations since it seems I got there too early. I decided to go get some lunch first. There were several restaurants nearby including a market. I didn’t want to risk the market so I went for a nearby restaurant. Poissons Al Borj is one of these restaurants which are near the promenade. As the name implies, it is a seafood place. The food appears to be similar to the food I had when I ate at the market in Rabat. I really didn’t mind that, you can’t really say no to seafood that costs only six euro. As you can see the seafood is mostly lightly battered and then deep fried. I got a mix of seafood which I wolfed down with gusto. While it was warm outside, the restaurant has some shade so it was okay to eat outside. El Jadida is right by the ocean so there is a lot of seafood available, I will take advantage of these in my next meals.
