My bus back to Shangrila eventually came but it wasn’t very obvious from the restaurant at Baishuitai where I was waiting. The staff called me out to tell me that the bus was there. Somehow I already knew it was there too since there was a big commotion when the bus arrived. The bus was exactly the same bus I took coming here, even the driver and the bus conductor was the same. Their point of origin must be quite close for them to be able to come back within two hours, that probably already included lunch. Anyway, I was grateful that I managed to catch the bus back to Shangrila. I probably had another option where I would share a vehicle with some local tourists I met but I was concerned about safety since I was traveling alone.

I was seated next to a young Beijing psychology student and he chatted me up for a while until I ran out of Chinese. He was on vacation and was touring different parts of China. He seemed to have travelled the cheap way, meaning by train. Quite amazing since it covers very large distances. When we arrived at Shangrila, I took the bus back to Dukezong Ancient town. With nothing better to do, I rested the rest of the day. Dukezong is quite a sleep town, but it suits me fine. That night I went for another dinner of yak meat, this time it was yak ribs which were stewed to softness. It wasn’t melt in your mouth softness though but it was nice, just make sure to eat it fast, it wasn’t very nice when it was cold.
