Beijing’s Lama Temple was just behind the hostel which I was staying at and I think it was quite careless of me to miss such and important place. The Lama Temple here is one of the most important temples in Beijing. And it shows. There were a lot of Buddhist stores outside the temple grounds. I believe that is a sign that this is a very highly visited temple. However, interestingly enough this doesn’t seem to be one of those very touristy place, on the contrary this seems to be a very real place, and the visitors are worshippers.

Much of the temple seems to be quite new or at least newly renovated. This very popular temple now has an entrance fee but with the enormous number of visitors visiting the temple everyday, they are probably raking in the dough. A surprise waited for me at the entrance of the temple. The trees lining the path to the temple have all turned golden. It seems autumn was already in full force at that time. Okay, forgive me if I would seem to be fascinated over something quite trivial but this is probably the first time I have seen such a scene. The number of visitors passing through past does little to irritate me.
