We finally got out of the Humble Administrator’s Garden 拙政园, it was about time since my friend was obviously sick of the place. She was hardly talking anymore as her eyes glazed over from all the garden she was seeing, she obviously isn’t the type who can enjoy such places. Now that we were out, she perked up a little, I have no idea where we were going though as I was just letting the ladies lead the way. We eventually ran into a restaurant which it seems has a lot of patrons. To us, a lot of patrons means good food.

The place of the name is Yaba Shenjian 哑巴生煎 or literally, Mute Guy’s Fried Bun. I have no idea who the mute was, it was more likely that this chain was started by a mute person who specialized in shengjian or fried bun. The fried bun is some sort of specialty in this region and I first had it in Shanghai and found it to be not bad. The one we had at this place was very nice. Compared to the one I had in Shanghai, the fried bun here was much nicer and moist inside. In fact it even had some juice in it, reminiscent of xiaolongbao. The taste was also heavenly as the meat inside was very flavorful. My companions shared a plate of the stuff while I had my own plate. It wasn’t really enough for me and I actually wanted more since it was so nice. But my friends already wanted to go shopping which was just next door.
