Just looking at the name would tell you that the Lingyin-Feilai Feng Scenic Area doesn’t just include the Lingyin Temple. The larger part of the scenic area is taken up by the Feilai Feng 飞来峰 or Feilai Mountain. The Lingyin Temple is actually built at the foot of Feilai Feng and it is but natural that some of the Buddhist influences spread to this mountain. It is no holy mountain though but it was a favorite haunting ground of the people in the vicinity.

The Feilai Feng is known for its centuries old Buddhist Sculptures carved on the mountainside. This is no Leshan Giant Buddha however, nor it is as intricate at the ones in Dazu in Sichuan either. However, it is still significant enough in its cultural value. To visit the sculptures will require to visit the entire mountain, something which I suspect is not welcome to my friend. We merely followed the nice stream along the foot of the mountain where you can alread see some of the sculptures.
