We were visiting the charming town of Telč in Czechia or Czech Republic. The main square is probably the most impressive part since it is surrounded by neatly lined baroque and renaissance style houses. What is not very obvious from the square was that there is a chateau or castle on the far end of the square. I would have expected a structure like this to be more prominent but it wasn’t very obvious at least from the square itself. Once we were done visiting the castle which wasn’t very big to begin with, we decided to have a look outside.

It is from the outside that we can get a better idea of what the chateau is like. Surprisingly, the castle has a lot of open space inside and the rooms were all inside the “walls” of the chateau. That leaves the middle free for open space like a small garden or park. From the outside, the castle looks much bigger and more imposing. I guess that it to be expected since we were so near the castle itself that anything would look big and imposing if they were close enough to it. From the outside, we can see some of the taller structures such as a church looking structure which I didn’t spot from the outside.
