Holašovice is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site because it is a very well preserved example of a central European village. There is a village green with farmhouses surrounding it. The whole thing feels like a museum and I don’t think people actually live here anymore. There were restaurants here but naturally they cater to tourists. Before that, we went to have a look at the farmhouses here. I wasn’t very obvious to us what is there to see here but one of the farmhouses was open and free to enter. Inside you can see how the farmhouse is set up.

There are farm implements on display to give you an idea of the tools they used back then. This wasn’t a terribly long time ago so they should be “modern” enough. Visitors can’t go all the way in though since there was a barrier but you can see enough of the inside. From where we were standing, we can see where people would be staying as well as where they will be working. The farmhouse that was open wasn’t large enough to have a full on stable. That’s one thing we didn’t get to see but this small farmhouse gave us an idea how it was back then.
