Chickenjoy from Jollibee Milan

I arrived in the city of Milan in good time. I took some time to take photos of the amazing train station which seemed like it was taken from ancient Rome. I haven’t actually planned on where to go at this moment so I thought that I should deposit my bag somewhere while I get figure things out. There is a left baggage service called bounce that is basically the AirBnb of left baggages. You book your time slot and go there to deposit your bags. I have never heard of this service before but as least in my case it worked well. There is a bounce point near the Milano Centrale station. It is a small hostel and it seemed to be nice place to stay. I just showed my reservation for the left baggage and I was brought to the baggage room and I just left it.

After that I thought that I should just have an early lunch. I know I have time to go around Milan city center and there are a lot of places within walking distance of the train station. For lunch, I thought that I go to a familiar spot – Jollibee! Jollibee is a popular fast food chain primarily in the Philippines. It has several branches outside the country and basically caters to the Filipino disapora. It turns out that there is a Jollibee in Milan and I thought to go there and have an early lunch there.

What I didn’t take into account was that it was a Sunday. That means everybody would be off. The place was packed and it was impossible to find a seat. It was hard to get a seat all by myself. I placed my order and just waited for my order. I had to go through a quick lesson in Italian since the order numbers were being called in Italian. Fortunately, it was just numbers and I was able to figure it out easily. I know this is just fast food but it has been a while since I had this anywhere. I had a three piece chicken and one peach mango pie. It isn’t the greatest food ever but I think is very homey and I think the atmosphere inside the restaurant just brings you back to Asia. The chicken is as good as ever and surprisingly, the fries are actually good. I used to think that Jollibee fries were never good as they were always soggy and never compared well with McDonald’s but this time it was actually good.

I never did get to sit and I had to eat my meal standing up. I set my food on top of a stack of child seats and started eating away. Some people who were just sitting waiting for their food noticed and offered me a seat. While I appreciate the gesture, I was almost done with my meal and it probably wouldn’t have mattered since I would have finished within ten minutes. Jollibee has other branches in Europe and hopefully they aren’t as crowded as the one in Milan.
