City Gates of Vicenza
City Gates of Vicenza

I was disappointed that I didn’t get to go in the Villa la Rotonda which is one of the Palladian villas outside the city of Vicenza. Villa la Rotonda is supposed to be modeled after the Pantheon in Rome and it even have magnificent murals inside. Unfortunately there was construction going on and visitors can’t go there until three months later, what a shame. I head back to the city of Vicenza, knowing that I still have a list to complete. There are still several of these structures that I didn’t get to see but now, I have the rest of the afternoon to spend to visit them.

I took the bus from the Villa la Rotonda back to the city. The bus drops passengers just inside the city walls. I didn’t notice the walls back then but there were towers which looks like gates to me. The tower looks very old. Not much remains of the city walls but parts of it is still there. The old city center is restricted to pedestrians so people will just get off at the city gates and start walking. This was the same for me when I arrived here this morning. I like this setup since I know very clearly where I can get a bus from here.
