Lago di Dobbiaco is one of the more popular lakes in the Dolomites. I can tell since there were a lot of tourists here at the lake. I summer, it is possible to swim in the lake but it was winter right now and the lake was starting to freeze over. There were parts of the lake which are already frozen and I think it is just a matter of time before the whole thing freezes over. While a lot of the visitors that arrived were trying on some flat land skiing, which I think is called cross country skiing, I was busy walking along the shore.

The lake is much bigger than the Lago di Landro where I was at earlier. And I didn’t have any illusions that I will be able to walk all the way around the lake. I can see some visitors at one end of the lake but I wasn’t sure what happens after that. I did walk but only up to a certain point since the scenery started to look more like swampland. Along the way, I can see that the shore is already starting to freeze up. I looked at it with fascination since the only thing I would see freeze is what ever is in my freezer. While I still don’t dare to step on it, it seems solid enough for me.
