I was conflicted about how I felt about seeing the frozen over Lago di Landro. I knew that the lakes in the Dolomites can be very beautiful which was the whole reason why I came here in the first place. The scenery around the lake is outstanding however the lake itself was frozen over. I know it was mid December but I didn’t expect the lake to already be frozen so soon. I also thought that it wasn’t that cold that the lake would freeze over. The fact remains, the lake is frozen and there is nothing I could do about it. I was disappointed at not being able to see the beautiful colors of the lake but at the same time, I was fascinated at seeing a frozen lake for the first time. I was still afraid to walk on it, only because there was no one else doing it. I merely stayed outside to take my photos.

Moving on, there is another stop which would be of interest to visitors. I am glad that it is clearly marked along the road so there was plenty of time to stop. The next stop is the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Viewpoint. I have seen how the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one the highlights in a visit to the Dolomites but it is better if you hike it. There is a trail which starts here and I can see several vehicles parked here and there is no one around. I can only assume that those people drove here and left to hike to the mountain. I would have definitely tried hiking it had I enough time to do it. I didn’t have much time allocated for a visit to the Dolomites as I assumed that I will only be driving around. Perhaps I can dedicate trip purely to the Dolomites then I will surely try this hike.
