I was starting my whirlwind trip around the Dolomites starting from Cortina d’Ampezzo. I haven’t driven that far when I had to stop on account of something interesting. There was a small stop here which is called a rifugio. It is a place where travelers can get some rest or refuge. These days I think it is more of a restaurant and a hotel. I think staying here can have its allure but I think it is too out of the way for me to try it. I found the nearby water fountain to be a more interesting since it isn’t very often and I can get free Italian fresh spring water.

There is still another structure here which also looks like it is not used that much. There is a small chapel or church here across the road from the rifugio. I am not sure why there would be a church all the way out here since people don’t live here. The church is dedicated to Saint Blaise but there is a little to see here or rather it was difficult to see much of the church because the church is surrounded by deep snow. I wonder if this place is busier in the summer since there seems to be plentiful parking space here. Though I would imagine most of it would be just patrons of the hotel or restaurant.
