Even though it was still early in the night, I thought to go to the restaurant while I still can. I tried heading there earlier but it seems that there weren’t open yet. I’m trying to get used to their culture here since they don’t open the whole day. This means that I need to be aware of their opening times, especially if there is a place I really wanted to go to. Given how small the city of Palmanova is, there weren’t too many places to choose from. I ended up picking this place called Da Baffo Restaurant. It is actually a pizzeria and it seems to have decent reviews online. It also seems to be one of the better places in town for whatever it is worth.

After a long day of walking, I just wanted to rest and have a good meal. Fortunately, pizza isn’t all they serve here. They also have non-pizza dishes. The menu was daunting since it was in Italian but fortunately, I had Google to help translate it for me. I decided to go for steak. But not just any steak, this was Florentine Steak. Okay, obviously, I’m not in Florence but it is still an Italian dish and something I haven’t had before. I’m not a stranger to steak in fact, I love it. The steak I got appears to be rather substantial, which is great.

When the steak arrived it looked a little pale. Slicing it gave the appearance of it being rare, almost undercooked. However, this is really how it is meant to prepared. I am not afraid to eat rare steak but this is my first time to try one which is meant to be prepared this way. It was great! I don’t know how authentic the meat is since Florentine steak is supposed to be made with specific type of beef but this one was good enough for me. It didn’t feel like I was eating raw meat and there wasn’t any blood either. Seasoning was very minimal with only salt and pepper, the rest is all up to the beef to provide.

I know I went to a pizzeria to have steak but I don’t think I made the wrong choice. I thought the steak was nice. I know that there are probably way better ones here in Italy, but considering the circumstances I don’t think I made a bad choice coming to Da Baffo Restaurant.
