Petrified Sand Dunes from Arches National Park
Petrified Sand Dunes from Arches National Park

I was finally done with my visit to Arches National Park. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I even got to walk further than I thought I would. I think the promise of a very impressive arch at the end of the trail was a great motivator for me, as long as the trail is mostly flat. The sun was starting to go down and although I don’t need to hurry to another place after this, I would still like to be able to get back to the hotel before it gets dark. Unfortunately, the park has a way of keeping you inside for just a little while longer.

There was only one way out of the park and that is through the main tourist driving route. Along the way back, I happened to see the petrified sand dunes that I saw earlier in the day. Because of the setting sun, the petrified sand dunes have more contrast and much better definition. Not only that, there were also snow capped mountains in the background. I noticed these mountains earlier in the day as well, but I think it is even easier to spot them now. The mountains are the La Sal Mountains which are not too far away from Moab city. Much as I would like to go there, I don’t think I have time for that, so I just took my photos and continued driving out of the park.
