Balanced Rock at Arches National Park
Balanced Rock at Arches National Park

I finally got to see Arches National Park’s most famous landmark – Delicate Arch. I am sure I have seen this arch before, though I never had a name for it. Indeed, so well known is Delicate Arch that it is displayed on Utah license plates. The arch has been synonymous with the state that I felt so fortunate that I was able to visit a place as significant at this. I know that I didn’t really go to the Delicate Arch, I only looked at it from afar but between walking a few hundred meters versus a several kilometers it was a no brainer for me. It doesn’t help the case that the trail is mostly uphill all the way.

Well, I finally got my photos and I think I was able to see most of what is there to see here outside any long and strenuous hikes. I started to make my way back to the entrance. By this time, the sun was already starting to go down so it was perfect. I can see that the red sandstone of the park is redder than ever. I decided to make a quick stop at Balanced Rock which is along the way back to the entrance. This time I think I got slightly better lighting compared to before. The setting sun was also helping improve the color the rock as well. By this time there weren’t any people at the Balance Rock any more, so I can appreciate the rock in all its balanced glory.
