The Windows in Arches National Park is one of the more important places to visit here in the park. The name comes from the main two arches here named the North and South Window. There is actually a trail here which allows visitors to see more of The Windows. I thought it would go through the South Window but instead it goes around it. This is not a substantial hike as I feared but it is nice enough to give me a little workout. The trail is okay but hikers still need to be careful of rocks which cause uneven ground.

The trail is okay for the first half of the trail. This brings visitors behind the Windows and ultimately to the view behind The Windows. You can see a lot of desert here as the area is quite flat and dry. This area is very unlike the other parks I have visited where deep canyons were carved out by an ancient river. In this case, there is no one river which would have done this but water is still the main artist in this stark but beautiful landscape. Incidentally, the Colorado River isn’t too far away but I think it wouldn’t have been the main force at work here since it would have been too powerful to not end up making canyons.
