Turret Arch at Arches National Park
Turret Arch at Arches National Park

The Windows area of Arches National Park is one of the most popular places here in the park. There is a large concentration of places to see here that most people would inevitably find their way here. This part is actually off the main driving route but there are sign posts that will point you to it. As the name implies, The Windows refer to the multiple arches in the area. All of these arches are accessible and the problem is choosing which one to see first. I ended up where most people would end up first and that is the South Window.

However, not too far from here is the Turret Arch which is just a short walk away. I actually didn’t bother to walk closer to Turret Arch since it didn’t look too impressive. There is indeed an arch here but I think it might be a little too small compared to the others in the immediate area. People who make it to the South Window will usually walk to the Turret Arch, so if you are already in the area, might as well have a closer look at Turret Arch. I can’t find any information about why it was given that name but usually it is because of how it looks. In the case of Turret Arch, I can’t see why it would look like a turret but maybe it did before it changed?
