Dry River Bed at the Narrows at Capitol Reef National Park
Dry River Bed at the Narrows at Capitol Reef National Park

I was following the driving route during my visit to Capitol Reef National Park. I would see a sign and I would stop and take photos or even hike if I need to. This has worked so far for me and even for this visit to Capitol Reef National Park. While I did get a park map when I dropped by the visitor center, I was still just following whatever Google Maps shows me. My thinking was that if it shows up in Google Maps, then it probably is significant enough to visit.

Visiting the Narrows at Capitol Reef National Park

One of these places that I saw is called the Narrows. If you have been anywhere on this blog these past few weeks, you would have known that I recently visited a different Narrows but that one is more well known, that is the one in Zion National Park. I had no idea that there are another Narrows here. I only visited the mouth of the Narrows in Zion National Park but it is supposedly one of the most popular places to visit in Zion. The Narrows in Zion is a narrow canyon with the Virgin River running through it. The Narrows here in Capitol Reef National Park is also one which has a narrow canyon, however that is where the similarities stop. The Narrows here in Capitol Reef National Park is a dry riverbed. If it is dry, then I might as well try to visit it, perhaps I would see something interesting.
