I slept very well at my hotel in Hurricane, Utah. Somehow I wasn’t as affected by jet lag as I originally thought I would. But I do know that it helps me wake up earlier at least in this time zone. This is perfect for me since I was hoping to get to Zion National Park earlier in the morning, hopefully avoiding and crowds and securing parking for myself. I was still dark when I left the hotel. It was almost winter so the daybreak takes longer to arrive. I’m just glad that I don’t have to wake up four in the morning to drive since I can afford a couple more hours sleep.
This time of the day, the gates of Zion National Park are wide open. I don’t think this is a secret since there won’t be anyone manning the gates that time of the morning. I was planning to get some sunrise photos here and there is a spot here which is supposedly good for it. Obviously, one would need to wake up early for sunrise photos but apart from that, parking at the spot isn’t plentiful. I hope to arrive there before most of the crowd would be there. The way to the spot it actually on the way out of Zion National Park but I won’t be leaving just yet. I just need to get my photos and then see the rest of the park.
