I went to the birthplace of Mozart quite excited. I was excited to see how the man lived and what kind of environment gave birth to one of the most amazing talents the world has ever seen. Unfortunately, there were a lot of items on display and a lot of reading. I had no choice but to read since I needed to understand what was on display. It wasn’t like they were displaying the bed where Mozart slept on, but I guess I should have expected this. The birthplace is a pilgrimage site for people who are intimately involved with music, of which I wasn’t. I ended up just taking all the photos that I can take and moved on.

I was at the city center of the city of Salzburg and I think it is just a joy to walk around here. There are numerous shops here to go into but by the time I got out of Mozart’s birthplace, it was already noon. It seems that I spent much more time there than I expected. I ended up picking this place called the Goldene Kugel Restaurant. The Goldene Kugel name refers to the giant golden sphere outside the Salzburg Cathedral. It seems that this place is quite popular since there were people constantly streaming in to the restaurant. I got myself some roast pork, which was supposedly a specialty of the place. It was okay, I wasn’t blown away by it. I thought that the meat was a little lean since I prefer my meat to have a little more fat in it. I think most of the food that I had here in Austria has been like that – just okay. I’m not blown away by the flavors but they don’t taste bad either.
