We ended up outside the Telč Castle where we got to appreciate the Telč Castle more. It was hard to see how big it actually it since we were all just inside it. Looking at it from the outside gives visitors a better perspective. The castle isn’t massive by any means but it is larger than how it feels from the inside. I’m sure that there are large parts of the castle that I didn’t get to see but it seems my friends were more interested to just walk around. So walk around we will.

Outside the castle runs the Telč River which serves as a natural defense for the castle. It also provides a beautiful foreground to the castle. The clear sky also helps make the red roof of the castle more prominent. The walk along the river isn’t that long. In fact, we don’t even need to walk the entire section of the river which runs past the old town center. There is a bridge halfway which brings visitors back to the town center. Incidentally, the bridge also makes for a great spot to photograph the castle. I don’t know if they really ever take how the castle would look like into consideration when building a chateau but I think having a chateau right next to a river is convenient. You can also see that there are houses by the river which have their own boats, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to think that residents of the castle would also go on boat rides.
