Telč Castle is one of the major landmarks here in the town of Telč. It is included as part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing of the historic center of the town. Most visitors would end up in this part of the town center. It was strange since the chateau or castle wasn’t even that visible from the square. I guess that is because the other end of the square wasn’t that interesting apart from the baroque fountains. The north western end of the square seems to be more interesting. We ended up visiting the Telč Castle which I would say is just fine.

The Telč Castle was a chateau that was built in the gothic style but it was then rebuilt in the renaissance style. I have to admit that I probably won’t know the difference between these but I would just admire them just the same. I was surprised to see how hollow the castle actually is. Most of the castle is actually thick walls, which house various rooms typical of castles. We didn’t get to see these rooms but I don’t think my companions mind. There is also an embedded Chapel of All Saints within the walls of the castle. Looking at this, it makes me wonder if all these structures just started as individual structures on their on and were subsequently just incorporated into the chateau. These structures have been here for a good few hundred years and it wouldn’t be too far fetched to imagine that this actually happened.
