Closer Look at the Stone Circle in Holašovice
Closer Look at the Stone Circle in Holašovice

My friends and I were practically done with our visit to Holašovice when we saw that there were some structures on the field not too far away from the village green. There was a single family visiting the area and we thought to also have a look around. What I thought was another historical site turned out to be some strange display of Norse gods. I think it is more for the younger visitors since they might be familiar with the characters depicted by the statues. Ultimately, these statues were just there for display and fun. We took our photos and we moved on.

Not too far away is something I couldn’t ignore. There was a stone circle here. I was wondering if they ever had stone circles here since this is a structure which I would associate with Northern Europe, primarily Great Britain and Ireland. I don’t know if this practice spread beyond that area, much less, penetrate central Europe. Apparently, this stone circle is just a replica. It is made of twenty five stones which form a circle. At the center is another stone which serves as the focus of the circle.

It is said that the circle helps to focus energy to anyone inside the circle. I don’t know if any of this is true but I was sure that I didn’t get teleported to another place when I stepped inside. Looking it up online, there seem to be a few other replicas built in the country. Maybe they have some kind of fascination with this kind of thing. Honestly, I don’t think they should bother erecting such things since their history is interesting enough as it is.
