Before I even visited Czechia or the Czech Republic, I don’t know too many places in the country. Apart from Prague which is the capital, I know next to nothing about the country. I do remember Czechoslovakia only because the name was so long. I later learned that it split into the Czech and Slovak Republics following the fall of communism. Even then, I only know about Prague, which brings us to now. I was visiting with friends and while we entered the country through Prague, we quickly made our way south to the historic town of Český Krumlov.

Like I always do, I would look up the UNESCO World Heritage sites of a country and try to plan my way through the country whichever way is practical. Needless to say, Český Krumlov is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The plan is to go from Český Krumlov and slowly make our way back to Prague. The country isn’t very large and based on the information online, the drives won’t be terribly long. Český Krumlov is a very well preserved medieval city in the South Bohemian Region of the country. We parked the car outside the town and made our way in. I don’t think I could have asked for a better entrance. We went through the northern entrance of the town and soon after going through the bridge which crosses the town walls, we were greeted with a view of the town of Český Krumlov. The viewpoint wasn’t very high up but it was good enough for us to see the town itself.

The town sits along a bend of the Vltava River and the old buildings in town altogether make for a beautiful sight. It also helps that the lighting was great too. I can tell that my friends were amazed at the sight as well since they were all smiling and quickly brought out their phones. That spot also happens to be a prime photography spot since it lets you see a good view of the town. This isn’t the best view though, as I would later find out.
