One of the last few monuments that I visited in the city of Milan was the cathedral. I was very near where I had lunch and it made sense to have a look after eating. The cathedral is the fifth largest in the world and I can see that. Not only was it tall, but it was also wide. It is large enough to fit forth thousand people. While this gothic design of the church is different from the other supposedly gothic churches that I have seen in this trip, I think I would prefer this type of gothic architecture. The other churches that I have seen here were rather bland compared to this one in Milan.

As you can see the facade itself is incredibly ornate. Why would they build something like this? For years the facade laid unfinished or rather was left rather plain. However, Napoleon Bonaparte was meant to be crowned king of Italy here in this church so the facade was quickly finished, and I must say that final design of the facade is one fit for a king. There is even a statue of Napoleon in one of the spires here. Which one? I don’t know because the church has so many of them. The church is a magnificent work of art and I am thoroughly impressed with it. While I never got to see the famous Last Supper painting by Leonardo da Vinci, because this turned out to be the wrong church. This is also not a UNESCO World Heritage site, but I was still happy to have come here.
