The main reason why I wanted to visit Milan Cathedral was that I read that there is a very important painting to see here. Surely, such a painting won’t be that hard to find here in the church, so I didn’t bother to ask. I was busy appreciating the gothic beauty of Milan Cathedral and it was easy to forget about why I came here in the first place. The church is the fifth largest in the world and it can take some time to go around the church. Eventually, I did make it all the way around the church. It didn’t not escape my attention that the church as multiple paintings which are hung from the ceiling.

The paintings that are hung here in the cathedral are a different take on how to display religious images. I have only seen this style deployed here and I think it is very different. Most of the time, it would be paintings hung on walls, or straight up frescoes painted on the walls but this is the first time I have seen so many religious paintings hung inside a church. I was hoping that the painting I was looking for was one of them and I was looking through them one by one but to no avail.
I got fed up and eventually asked a help desk where the painting was. I was told that I got the wrong church. The painting that I was looking for was the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. I thought it was housed here in this church but I was wrong. For that I needed to go to Santa Maria delle Grazie also in Milan, but I would also later find out that one needs to book tickets because so many people want to go see it. It looks like I won’t be one of those people. I will have to come back for that painting some other day.
