After a day of sightseeing in the city of Verona. I was back at the hotel getting a little bit of rest. I won’t be long before I would be setting out again, but this time for dinner. I spent most of the day wandering around the city that I didn’t even have time for lunch. Part of this was because I wanted to save money, while the other part is to be able to eat more for dinner. It was dinner and I was looking for a place which would be good to visit. There were a few restaurants near the hotel including a German one, but I wasn’t interested in it. I would be flying out tomorrow and I wanted a place which is local. That is when I found Locanda degli Scaligeri.

Locanda degli Scaligeri is not too far from the Piazza Bra and it looked local enough. I know I won’t be able to tell whether something is truly local but for me as long as it is Italian cuisine, it should be local enough for me. I didn’t have anything the whole day so I was starving. That’s when I saw it. They had steak. I know this defeats the purpose of me trying to save money but I just needed to try their steak. Fiorentina di Scottona is probably better known as Florentine Steak. I have head of this steak before and I only head good things about it. I thought I had one previously but it wasn’t that great however this time, they have some serious steak at least judging by the price.

I hesitatingly ordered the steak. The menu says it is 1.2kg which is massive. I worry that I won’t be able to finish it but it was my last night in Italy and I want to have a great meal here. When the steak did come out, it was massive. It felt like all eyes were on me when it was served. Even the dad in the next table gave me a thumbs up on my order. The steak was a T-bone steak but it is unlike any I have ever had before. The meat looked almost raw. Florentine steak is prepared rare which I don’t mind. The meat itself was tender and it was very simply seasoned. All you have is the beef and some salt. It was one of the loveliest steaks that I have ever had. It was huge as well but I worked away at it and managed to finish the whole thing. I had large steaks before but I would get sick of it before I could finish it but it didn’t happen to me this time. Probably goes to show the how good it was. I thought I was extremely lucky to find this place in the city of Verona. The food was great, and the prices were reasonable. I would go back here anytime I find myself in Verona.
