The Palazzo Maffei Museum in Verona wasn’t the greatest art museum that I have visited. The museum had some good quality art and I think even I can appreciate that. They even have a painting that I can recognize, so I think that is something. They had a good mix of the old and the new and to top it all off, the museum wasn’t that big that I would lose interest in whatever was on exhibit. The trail through the museum eventually led upstairs and then out. Out? I was surprised myself. I thought that was going to be an outdoor exhibit at the top of the Palazzo Maffei. It wasn’t what I had in mind but it was still an exhibit of some sort.

The top of the Palazzo Maffei offers views of the nearby Piazza delle Erbe. The Palazzo Maffei was originally built as a two story baroque building. Over the years, a third story was added to the building. You can tell from the outside since there was a clear cut between the second and the third floor. Either way, it help to make the Palazzo Maffei taller. It still isn’t the tallest structure in the piazza, that honor goes to the Torre Lamberti which is attached to the Palazzo della Ragione, From the roof deck of the Palzzo Maffei one can have a good look at the market at the piazza. Looking down below and seeing how busy it was. I was thinking that I was glad that I went in the Palazzo Maffei.
