That’s it, I was finally done with my sightseeing here in Vicenza. I am sure that there are a lot more places to see here in the city but given my limited time, I only had time to visit the Palladian heritage sites and that it enough for me. Now that I’m done, it was time for me to look for some food. I had a light lunch earlier and I was hoping for something more substantial. I was looking mainly around the Piazza dei Signori area since there seem to be several restaurants in the area. I know it will be a little pricey here because of the location but I didn’t want to go out to look for other places.

I found this little restaurant called PREP Design Restaurant that opens only at seven in the evening. I thought that if they could afford to open only at this time then they have to be very confident with their food. I managed to get a seat here and it felt very fancy. There were wine bottles all around and this is obviously a place to have drinks. The PREP in their name is actually an acronym of what the are – Prosciutteria Ristorante Enoteca Pinseria. Prosciutteria – a place which sells prosciutto. Ristorante is obviously a restaurant. Enoteca – a place which sells wine. Finally Pinseria – a place which sell pinsa – a flatbread that is similar to pizza but done differently.

I was here for a meal and I did get my roasted pork. I also had their prosciutto which they seem to be proud of. I’m not an expert at all when it comes to prosciutto but I have never met a prosciutto that I didn’t like. Prosciutto is basically ham that is sliced into paper thin slices. It can be put in sandwiches or on top of pizza. You can also have it on its own, which what I did. The roast pork was also lovely. The skin was crispy while the meat was very soft. I had a lovely time at the restaurant and since there weren’t too many customers at the time, I wasn’t in a hurry to get out either. On warmer days or nights, it is possible to sit outside the restaurant and take in the atmosphere of the piazza but for now, it is inside where everyone goes.
