Duck with Some Sauce at Vicoli in Padova

I was raining almost the entire afternoon and way into the evening. Honestly, I didn’t really feel like going out. I was hoping to just keep warm at the hotel but I would be wasting my visit to the historic city of Padova. I wasn’t exactly at the city center so there wasn’t too many restaurants nearby. I guess this can also be a good thing, this means that prices would be more reasonable. I thought about going to the city center to have dinner but the rain discouraged me from going there. So I just looked for a place to eat somewhere nearby.

I found this quiet little place called Vicoli. It is a small restaurant but it looks nice, reviews seem to be okay so I thought to give it a try. By this time in my trip, I have gotten used to how the Italian menu works. This time, I decided to go for a primi, or the first dish. My first dish was a plate of risotto. I eat a lot of rice, but I don’t get to eat risotto that much. Risotto is a nice change from all that rice. The risotto came with a very rich and creamy sauce that I thought that I should try to make this sometime. It was very nice start to my meal.

My secondi or second plate is a plate of duck. I know I try eat stuff which I never tried before and I never associated duck with Italian cuisine so I thought that this was a nice chance. The duck was cooked much like a steak. The duck breast was still pink in the middle and very juicy as you can see in the photo. The duck is also slathered with some kind of sauce. It wasn’t very stereotypical Italian at all and I like it. To complete the night, I had a glass of cocktail to wait the rain away. This wasn’t the cheapest place to go to but it wasn’t super expensive either.
