My visit to the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua started out rather lackluster. It felt like just another church or basilica since there are so many here in Italy. However, the more I go looking inside the basilica, the more important things I see inside. Even the interiors of the basilica seem to be improving the further I go in. At the furthest end of the church, which is basically the area behind the altar, is another chapel. However, this chapel is decorated in baroque style making it incredible ornate.

The Chapel of the Relics as it is called is obviously named for the relics that are in here. Relics would be material which is related to an important person. I’d imagine that the relics here would be all be related to Saint Anthony of Padua, after all, this entire basilica is dedicated to the saint. However, this wasn’t the case. There were relics from various religious figures which naturally included Saint Anthony of Padua but there were also more recent one including one from Saint Pope John Paul II. I think I was mistaken to think that this chapel of the relics is static for centuries but actually it is still getting updated based on the need.
