I had a great time exploring the Val di Funes. I know I didn’t exactly do it a lot of justice since I was only there for an afternoon, but I was very happy with what I saw. I head back down the mountain before it gets dark and back into the car. Only to be met with a furious homeowner who was upset that I parked at their property. I knew what I was doing and I was just taking a chance that no one was home. I was asked for five euros for parking and after some apologies, I was on my way. I know I wasn’t a model tourist and I ask people not to follow my example. People actually live here and I realize that tourists are intruding into their homes.

I set out to check in at my accommodations which is in the city of Ortisei. It isn’t that far from Val di Funes and it was just a matter of getting there. Much of the way is following a road carved out from the mountainside. Needless to say, it was a bit narrow and it was hard to drive fast when you are not familiar with the road, on top of it being winding. I didn’t get into much trouble for driving below the speed limit, I think it is still better to get there than risk an accident because I was driving fast in a narrow road.

My accommodations is at B&B Villa Angelino in what appears to be a pedestrian area of Ortisei. I had problems locating them since I was under the impression that I would b able to drive there. I parked at the central parking area and went there on foot. It was then I was told that it was possible to drive through what I thought was a pedestrian zone. Sure enough, I was parked in the hotel grounds and I was checked in.

Contrary to what the photo shows online, the hotel is in the middle of the city. I was under the impression that it was in a remote part of the city perhaps on some steep slope, but this wasn’t the case. There is easy access to the commercial area of Ortisei and this is great for me. The bedroom was nice and modern. For something that is inside a popular tourist city, there was plenty of space here. I was staying that their B&B building. They have a hotel building as well. I don’t know what the difference is but I was happy enough with what I got.
