Inside the Salzburg Railway Station
Inside the Salzburg Railway Station

I got up early in Hallstatt to catch my bus back to Salzburg. It turned out that I was a bit too early but I would rather err on the side of caution. After all, it would be another hour before another bus arrives. I made it back to the city of Salzburg in very good time. It was already morning and it was busy at the train station. The bus drops everyone at the train station which makes it very convenient for people like me. I’m sure they planned this anyway but I was still very pleased nonetheless. This isn’t my first time here at the railway station of Salzburg. In fact, the very first time I arrived in Austria, I took the bus from the airport to the railway station to go to Hallstatt.

This time, I will be going further west. While Salzburg Railway Station isn’t as large as some train station that I have seen it is still good enough size for the people here. Salzburg is the fourth largest city in Austria and they don’t even have a population of two hundred thousand. Still a lot of trains pass through Salzburg and it is also a major tourist destination which makes it imperative that they have a good train station. I had to scramble to purchase tickets because it wasn’t very obvious to me where to get them. Turns out that I had to go further in the concourse level to get to the ticket kiosks. Everything is all down by machine here but the software was easy enough to figure out and I managed to get my tickets.
