Pipe Organ at Speyer Cathedral

I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is an old crypt here in Speyer Cathedral. I should probably describe it as an imperial crypt because kings and emperors would be found resting here. The crypt was a nice change from the rather boring visit to the Speyer Cathedral. The crypt wasn’t that large either even if it is considered the largest hall column crypt in the Europe. Eventually, I got out of there and started to make my way out.

It was only then that I realized that I never really looked up that much. I noticed that that were are actually murals on the upper walls of the cathedral. This is very near the windows near the roof so one would need to look up to see them. It was actually difficult to tell exactly what is depicted there but I would guess that these would be scenes from the rosary which depict important events in the life of Jesus Christ. The more I look further back, I can see that there also a large pipe organ just above the main entrance. This is a common place to put the organ and it is not surprising to see it here.
