Entering Speyer City Center

The city of Speyer is around an hour an a half train ride away from the big city of Frankfurt. There happens to be several UNESCO World Heritage sites in the area and I think it would be efficient to try to hit all three in one day. I don’t know if it is possible to do all in one day but with the good rail connections here I might just have a shot. Speyer is the furthest one from Frankfurt so I went there with the plans of slowly making my way back. I have done this kind of route before and it was worked so far.

I just so happened to enter the city center of Speyer through the old city gates which is basically a tower with a gate below it. These days there is no actual gate but it is still nice to see much of the original structure still there. The gate leads directly to the main street of the city. It actually feels much like how it was when I entered Trier just the previous day. The main street is lined is various shops a lot of them still in the process of setting up because it was still quite early in the morning. This more so for the Christmas market which seems to be set up here. I will no doubt end up here for lunch so I much hurry on and see the rest of the city.
