Going to Speyer

I finally changed my base of operation from Köln to the financial center that is Frankfurt. As usually, I would have more time to explore Frankfurt towards the end of the trip but in the meantime, I would be exploring the area around Frankfurt. This general area has a few UNESCO World Heritage sites and I was hoping I would be able to visit them. I think this will be a bit of a challenge because there are three separate places that need to be visited. They are all distinct UNESCO sites. While they are not exactly far apart, I still need to travel from one place to another and of course I only rely on public transportation so I would be limited by the available train schedules.

I decided to go visit the furthest town of the three sites and that is Speyer. Like the other three, I have never heard of this place but apparently, they have a famous cathedral here which was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Just like the previous days, the temperature was freezing but I finally bought a second pair of gloves, the first pair I immediately lost. Hopefully, I would be able to hold on to the gloves a little longer. There is a direct train from Frankfurt to Speyer and I managed to get on it. I think I understand the ticket kiosk much better now that I am able to figure out which one to take.
